EXPERIENCE

Mr. Matthews is a member of the firm's complex business and appellate litigation practice groups. He has experience litigating real estate, product liability, and contract disputes. Mr. Matthews is admitted to practice in all California courts and before the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

EDUCATION

Mr. Matthews earned his B.A. from James Madison University and his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law. During law school, Mr. Matthews served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Ricardo M. Urbina of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and was Chairman of Pepperdine’s Interschool Appellate Advocacy program.

Mr. Matthews has competed in numerous moot court competitions, placing first in the 2009 Foreign Direct Investment International Moot Court competition in Frankfurt, Germany. For excellence in courtroom advocacy, Mr. Matthews was inducted into the national honors society, the Order of the Barristers. From 2005-2007, Mr. Matthews served in the Bush Administration at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where he executed the President’s environmental policies and initiatives.

Mr. Matthews is a member of the American Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, the Federalist Society and the Republican National Lawyers Association.
