EXPERIENCE

Mr. Vogele entered the legal profession after a successful thirty year career in business. He worked in the banking and trust industry after college at the Harris Trust & Savings Bank in Chicago. After moving to California in 1980 he founded several successful manufacturing and service businesses. He sold one of these to a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway in 1987 and became President of the subsidiary, where he implemented a series of measures that resulted in his election to the board of directors of two Berkshire companies in 1989.

In 2003, he guided a small manufacturing company through a liquidating Chapter 11 plan that resulted in a full payout to all secured creditors, trade creditors, employees, and pension plans, and preserved the company’s competitive position in its industry during the five month reorganization process.

During law school he maintained a successful marketing and management consulting firm specializing in helping manufacturing companies develop new markets and cutting edge products, and implanting cost-savings processes in manufacturing through the application of technology and greater investment in training.

EDUCATION

Mr. Vogele received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Economics from Northwestern University in 1976. He also attended Northwestern University Graduate School of Management/Manager’s Program, with a dual concentration in Marketing and Finance. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Chapman University School of Law, in 2007. While in law school, Mr. Vogele served as an editor for the Nexus Law Journal and a teaching assistant in civil procedure.

He served as a judicial extern to the Hon. Vincent P. Zurzolo, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California during his second year of law school and helped draft revisions to the form disclosure statement and plan of reorganization.

Mr. Vogele was awarded the Dean’s Award, voted on by the faculty and administration, and received the Top Oralist Award from his classmates. He was named best oral advocate in the Luke Charles Moore Invitational/Howard University School of Law civil rights moot court competition and was named third best oral advocate at the Thomas Tang National moot court competition involving 168 competitors. He was selected by a vote of his classmates to give the commencement speech at graduation in May 2007.

MEMBERSHIP, PUBLICATIONS, SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS AND PUBLIC SERVICE

Mr. Vogele is a member of the State Bar of California, having been admitted in December 2007 and is also is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court – Central District. Mr. Vogele is also a member of the Orange County and Los Angeles Bar Associations.

He has served on the Business Council of the Newport Harbor Art Museum and was a founding member of the parent steering group for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. He was active in the CdM Foundation and Newport Harbor Area Boys and Girls Club prior to attending law school.
